What happens if you don’t treat cancer?

Worst than that is getting treated for NO GOOD. I worked in a cancer hospital and can say that I left my job just because of my good conscious.

I took radiotherapy as my profession, hoping to serve cancer patients, but my hope was shattered after I joined that hospital. The worst hospital to go for cancer treatment. They have so many branches and many patients come there too. it was a really busy department but all I could see was business. People are getting treated for money and not for cure.

a Simple 3D technique cost around 50k which cost very less in other hospitals. but Doctors prefer giving higher techniques which could be easily treated in 3D techniques for More PROFIT and More money.

Once an auto driver came and cried to me, as his mother is getting treated and he is struggling with money for treatment. I checked his mother’s chart and came to know it is a palliative treatment but his doctor has put him on higher package. His mother cancer is worst according to the diagnosis but THE DOCTOR wants HIGHER PAY !!! This hospital gives incentives to the staff based on the number of patients treated and based on the treatment package. So Higher the patient package, the more incentive you get.

His mother cancer has no cure as it has already spread to many organs. So what could be done is pain relief or palliative treatment, which cost around 20k in this hospital. they are put on 1.5 L treatment package. That driver with tears in eyes told me ,” I am working day and night to make this payment , please give him some more time for payment “. It haunts me till this day !! Not only him, I have seen many people being extracted money just because “ CANCER TREATMENT “. A CCU patient, is treated on higher package of radiation if they have money and on lower package, if they have less money !

Tell me , What Critical Structure sparing are you doctors doing , for a patient who is in CCU and fighting for life each minute. The hippocampus damage is expected after 15 years on lower techniques !!!! In the name of critical structure sparing, charging them 2.5 LAkhs … I felt I am earning money which has the smell of blood in it. I resigned my job and decided to do something else good before I too loose the humanity that still remains in me !

Never ever fall for doctors and hospital name ! I know that patients dont know anything about Radiotherapy and can be fooled easily by using “ MEDICAL TERMS “. Once in my hospital, the patient count fall down below the normal. Everyone was anxious. OH NO, WE ARE FALLING BEHIND ! The directors and all managers called a POOJARI and conducted POOJA in our department to increase the patient count … I was shattered , broken after I saw this !!!! They were asking GOD to give more cancer patients , to increase the hospital revenue !!!!!!

When I look into the eyes of innocent people, I felt as if I cant stand there a minute.Only one Radiation oncologist doesn’t extract money and does his job.He is dedicated to his profession and does a very good practice, else all others are for money. as soon as I see that good doc name on the patient treatment chart, i feel happy as I know that patient is getting a good proper treatment. the only doctor who has the highest number of lower package patients as he assigns the treatment for cure and not for money.

Lower packages like 3DCRT, have been proved to show good outcomes and result for breast cancer treatment but still the other docs suggest the patients to go for higher packages !!! poor patients, when they are suggested higher packages like IMRT , VMAT for better cure, WHO WOULD GO FOR LOWER PACKAGES without even knowing that 3DCRT is proven internationally for better cure.

There was one DOC who never ever bothers what is happening to his patient and never ever come to see his patients in the treatment room. If i call him and tell “ You patient has reaction, “ He tells , “ OK ask him to see my junior “!!!he doesnt even bothers to come to the treatment machine to see the image verification and sends his juniors always. That doc travels around to campaign patients for him. Does many papers and publishes them, and has many degree !! poor patients fall in easily.

it is mandatory to have a DOC, a physicist to verify the patient image verification on the first day. But only few cares . WHO HAS TIME FOR ALL THESE THINGS attitude !!!!!!!!!! except for that one dedicated DOC in my department, all others were just dump sacks…..MONEY MONEY MONEY,…. More money… More Patients… Higher packages !

Once a women from another country was sharing with me her burden to raise money to come to THIS HOSPITAL for treatment. I was screaming inside, “ PLZ GO SOMEwhere else, YOU DESERVE MORE BETTER TREATMENT THan you receive here “……. This hospital gets many patients from other countries too as “ THEY ARE TOO GOOD FOR CANCER treatment as ADVERTISED “

Sleepless nights followed as incidents came one by one. MAny staff ARE CARELESS ! how many mistakes happen and all try to hide the mistake. POOR Patient doesnt even know what is happening to them.They just know Radiation and this is Cure !!!!!!!

Once a staff imported a wrong plan that was treated for 30 fractions. only after the treatment, the DOC decided to review the plan to see why the patient developed so much complications and reactions and found out that It was A WRONG PLAN that was imported by that staff. The patient thinks that the reaction is due to the radiation and suffers rest of his life !!!!!!!

They charge 2000 for an Aquaplast mask that will be re-used again and again after the patient complete the treatment. the patient is paying full price of the Aquaplast, but after the treatment, it is melted in hot water and used again!

plz dont go after brand name and high cost thinking it is effective treatment. I hope and pray that a regulatory board will soon come into existence that can bring a uniform treatment cost in all CANCER hospitals and that will have the power to check, why a patient was treated in each technique . A check “ why a treatment was provided “ is needed !!!!!
