Cancer is a very frightening condition and chemotherapy can be very difficult. That being said - You have asked the question so presumably you want the answers of people who have been through it themselves or with family members. So here is the answer - Yes there most certainly is a point.
You are going to be dead a long long time. There is no reason to rush off the stage even though staying here is becoming more difficult. I have seen and watched cancer in several close families members. My mother in law is now 89 years old. She has had cancer three times, Breast Cancer, Maglignant Myeloma and Lymphoma. Radiation and Chemotherapy have saved her each time and she is still making Tomato Sauce, pastafazul, brocollirab and a whole lot of other dishes that I can’t stand.
The thing here is to pay attention. Make and keep your appointments, and when treatment appears not to be working keep going while you look to see if other treatments are available. Cancer treatment is much much different and better today than even 10 to 15 years ago and it wasn’t bad then either. My wife was diagnosed with serious breast cancer 3 weeks before our son was born. It was a suddenly appearing very large tumor. Things looked very bad. The only physician who was encouraging was the surgeon. Everyone else - not so much. After surgery it was chemotherapy and tamoxifen for years. At every test I thought her cancer would return. That was 28 years ago.
I’ve seen people, in particular one teen age girl who was literally on death’s doorstep from leukemia, who was bleeding from everywhere, who hung on just one more night and passing the crisis - recovered. Don’t listen to pessimism or to people who imply or tell you outright that you should just give up and let nature take its course. Don’t fall for alternative therapies either. Today you have the internet. You have a tremendous number of resources literally at your fingertips. Use the available resources to find the best oncologists who are experienced in the type of cancer you are suffering from. Don’t give up, especially if people are depending on you. Even if you want to give up, postpone the decision for a couple of days and think it over. Things can change for the better very quickly - believe me I know. Good luck.
